Tried various jobs on leaving school, then graduated in acting from Sofia's theatre art institute in 1952. Took part as actor and assistant director in the production of the first Bulgarian post-war features. Began directing in 1958 and established a reputation with his first film, which won him a prize at the Czech Festival of Working People in 1959. In 1970 Rangel Vulchanov was punished for shooting films in Czechoslovakia in "The Conterrevolutionary Years" (1968-1970). Award: |
