Synopsis:
An admission examination for young actors at the Theatre Academy. They are ready to do anything to achieve their dream. The jury is anonymous, manipulative and authoritarian. Its rules include provocations, humiliations, encouragement. In the actor candidates' small society rivalry, envy and treachery arise. But also friendship and love. This is a metaphor about the meaning of victory and defeat reality and fiction, art and life. How can you succeed in life without sacrificing your dignity and conscience?

RANGEL VULCHANOV

Born in the village of Krivina, 12 October 1928. Tried various jobs on leaving school, then graduated in acting from Sofia's theatre art institute in 1952. Took part as actor and assistant director in the production of the first Bulgarian post-war features. Began directing in 1958 and established a reputation with his first film, which won him a prize at the Czech Festival of Working People in 1959. In 1970 Rangel Vulchanov was punished for shooting films in Czechoslovakia in "The Conterrevolutionary Years" (1968-1970).
